Hints for Preparing RAR Belted Galloway Beef

Naturally lean and low in saturated fat, some people find Belted Galloway beef a little different to prepare from conventional store-bought meat. These hints on preparation will make the most out of the delicious cuts of beef you have chosen!
  1. Always start with completely unfrozen meat when cooking larger cuts such as steaks or roasts (ground beef dishes can be prepared from frozen and stewing beef can be sliced slightly frozen if used in saucy or slow cooker recipes).
  2. For best results, do not thaw beef in the microwave.  Instead, remove from the freezer and leave in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours.
  3. Use the moistest heat possible to cook the beef - gas ovens and BBQs are much better than electric or convection ovens.
  4. Marinate the beef or prepare with a dry rub to help seal in moisture while cooking.  Remember, Roadapple Ranch Belted Galloway beef is truly well marbled - there are no fatty deposits to catch fire on the BBQ - it is OK to use an oil based marinade to help seal in flavour and juice.
  5. Always use the right cut for the type of cooking you plan to do.  If in doubt, feel free to ask for recommendations from us!
